Stevie Wonder opened for the Stones on the 72 tour, Exile. Here's Gimme Shelter from that tour in Phila.;feature=related

For you youngins who grew up in the 80's and on, despite what MTV insisted, "Waiting on a Friend" was not what made the Rolling Stones what they were—think of it as their Samba in the Rain. (And that godawful video from "I Know It's Only Rock n Roll" where they are dressed like gay sailors and cavorting in bubbles...just defies analogy.)

I think the Stones, like the goGD, had to be listened to/seen live to be appreciated. I find most Stones albums one notch above the Carpenters in punch. But, you listen to the rhythmn section live, and Mick Taylor's screaming leads, well, it's like a different band.
